Youth Ministry at Chadbourn Baptist Church
The youth ministry is comprised of students from 7th grade-12th grade. The youth ministry has a strong legacy at Chadbourn Baptist. The walls of our youth room serve as a visual reminder of this legacy; decorated with the handprints of the previous youth groups. Also decorating the walls of the youth room are two phrases that characterize the youth ministry at Chadbourn Baptist - “God’s work is hand on” and “Striving to walk like Christ in everything we do.”
God’s Work Is Hands On
The youth have always been actively involved in missions, especially in our community. They started a food pantry at our church in 2007 that continues to minister to 12 families in our community through the bags of food that we distribute monthly. The youth also participate in our church-wide mission projects, visit the local nursing homes, and go on a mission trip every summer. They assist in promoting the CBF Global Missions Offering in December, and a member of the youth serves on our church Missions Committee.
Striving To Walk Like Christ In Everything We Do
At the heart of our youth ministry is the desire to see the youth become Christ followers who strive to walk like Christ in everything they do. Youth study God’s word together during Sunday School and weekly youth meetings as they seek to apply God’s word to their lives. During this school year, the youth have been participating in a Mayberry Bible Study on Sunday nights. This study has generated wonderful discussions on the themes of service, mercy, commitment, pride, accountability, discernment, wisdom, temptation, and encouragement. During Lent, the youth are learning about the richness of the Lenten season through Destination Easter.
Community and Fellowship are also other defining elements of the youth ministry at CBC. The youth plan monthly fellowship outings in addition to our weekly youth meetings. Other elements of the youth ministry that fosters fellowship and community in our group are ski trips, fall beach retreats, white-water rafting trips, annual mission trip to Passport Camp, and lock-ins.
Youth Sunday School meets at 9:45 am and Youth Group meets Sunday evenings at 6:00pm in the youth room.
